Safety Engineer at Intuitive Research and Technology Corporation in Huntsville, AL
Ensures adherence to applicable service and agency safety policies, criteria, and standards to support Foreign Military Sales programs. Provides system safety expertise to establish design criteria and requirements as well as perform independent safety analyses, studies, and design evaluations of systems, subsystems, and equipment. Evaluates contractor's safety engineering program plans to ensure goals and objectives are achieved. Establishes safety test requirements, plans, and programs. Reviews technical manuals, publications, and reports to validate that adequate safety information, warnings, and procedures are prescribed for personnel protection and system operation. Supports accident/incident investigations. Travels to both laboratory and operational test sites to assess system safety and eliminate existing hazards. Required ABET accredited BS degree in an Engineering discipline or safety related field Minimum 4 years of relevant experience Knowledge of safety principles, regulations, and practices including experience carrying out hazard control techniques as well as conducting risk analysis on weapons systems Experience with Microsoft Office products Approximately 25% travel Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance Desired Knowledge of Air and Missile Defense Systems Experience configuring and deploying Secure Host Baseline images Knowledge of DoDM 5220.22-M NISPOM, AR 25-2, and NIST SP 800-53 Experience with Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) database tool MIL-STD-882E, AMCOM 385-17, MIL-STD1472, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-1474, MIL-HDBK-454, and, Joint Software System Safety Committee (JSSSC) Handbook Implementation Guide experience Experience in the Software Development Life Cycle utilizing Agile Necessary Competencies Honesty, superior ethics Interpersonal savvy, excellent communication skills Ability to be a team player Initiative Positive attitude Professionalism Life at INTUITIVE Awards:
