Summary:
Responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the communications product line providing secure, robust, line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight solutions to commercial and defense customers. The ideal candidate will lead people to meet the needs of the business, championing improvements in cost/schedule/quality by leveraging standard best practices, and formulate/implement a roadmap for adopting new technology to improve product capabilities. A proven history as an inspirational, business-oriented leader with a demonstrated track record of success in a product line environment is critical. The ideal candidate will bring domain expertise with managing radio product lines supporting both internal and external customers. The candidate will be responsible for leading all product sales efforts, managing product lines throughout the entire product management lifecycle, and developing/implementing a product strategy across the organization while working closely with program management, manufacturing, engineering, contracts, and finance. The candidate will also perform ongoing market research, engage with customers, work with development teams on new features, measure product success, formulate/ execute long-term plans for cost/profit control, develop forecasting models, and select/develop/evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority. Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing the commercial products through their lifecycle, to include gathering and prioritizing customer requirements, defining product upgrade strategies, and working closely with management, development teams, engineering, sales, marketing, and other support groups to ensure revenue, profit and customer goals are met. Responsible for profit and loss, contract performance, including cost, schedule, staffing, and resource management issues. Work closely with upper management to develop long term product development and sales strategies. Work with the sales team on marketing strategy and guidance for selling, promoting products, and meeting customer needs. Monitor and analyze market trends and competitors to make sure product lines stay competitive and fulfill customer needs. Understand all aspects of customer's business needs and how they can apply to our company's product lines. Key contributor and approving authority in coordinating quote and proposal activities through sales and contracts to meet customer needs. Generate business cases and maintain product roadmaps for product extensions and product enhancements to meet market demands and new sales potentials. Develops investment plans for each product so that products will be up to date and meet all market driven and customer requirements. Works with third parties to develop business strategies as well as teaming and license agreements. Ensures all customer requirements and expectations are met by providing superior customer support and service. Works to make sure all contractual product requirements are satisfied. Serves as expert with respect to the customer and competitive environment. Determine value-based product pricing based on market and competitive environment Achieve targets on financial contribution margin for each product Resolve internal performance issues arising from engineering design or operations production Advocate for continuous improvement and cost reduction with segment leadership. Effective time, budget and prioritization management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Travel:
25% or more. Minimum Job Requirements:
Four-year college degree (B.B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent experience. Minimum of 15 years experience of prior related experience. 5
years of program management experience involving products. Demonstrated experience in creating product specifications, gathering customer requirements, performing competitive analysis and/or market research. Able to make decisions independently and manage large teams. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. A self-starter with an entrepreneurial attitude and strategic business acumen. Ability to work effectively across multiple organizations and geographically diverse teams (e.g. Sales, Marketing & Engineering). Pro-active leader who is decisive and action-oriented, and can liaise effectively between the product team and program teams, manufacturing and engineering. Ability to apply for a DoD Security Clearance.
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
Technical Product Management, Technology ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
