Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer/ ArchitectThe individual will serve as the Software Architect of the Endurance Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Product Office (PdM EUAS), reporting to the Technical Management Division (TMD) Systems Engineering Branch Chief for development of EUAS architectures that will enable system capabilities designed for success today and on the Joint All Domain Operations (JADO) future battlefieldProvides oversight and leadership for the EUAS Product Manager for development and maintenance of the EUAS Architecture Strategy and tying into the overall UAS Family of Systems (FoS) architecture efforts and ensuring nesting within PEO Aviation enterprise architectures and associated policy and guidanceDirectly coordinates with peers in other PEO AVN Project Offices, internally with UAS Product Offices and TMD functional staff, and other services and stakeholders as required to adequately plan, coordinate, and synchronize EUAS architecture development and maintenance activitiesExercises architecture control through development of EUAS Architecture policy, guidance, and standard operating procedures (SOP)Evaluates and escalates for adjudication any deviations from architectural policy for enduring fleetDevelopment and management of these architectures encompass multiple functional areasAs such, serves as a functional team lead of personnel with RF, Data Links, networking, command, and control (C2), interoperability, geospatial, and spectrum expertiseUnderstands user requirements versus other considerations such as technical feasibility cost standardizationUtilize knowledge of project management, system engineering, and software engineering to determine, establish and monitor schedules, milestones, and costs and benefits of architecture effortsSoftware engineering experience will be critical to successIdentifies and resolves highly complex problems that cross organizational boundaries and develops solutionsConducts analyses to assess alternate technical solutions, develops architecture descriptions, and develops engineering and demonstration plans to inform acquisition strategies for current and future systemsCoordinates with industry, Army and other service labs, and academia to integrate tools and technologies supporting efficient delivery of warfighting capabilities, engineering, and sustainmentPrepares and provides technical briefings to all levels of the governmentEnsures alignment and implementation of interoperability profiles, software, and supporting activitiesSupports the Govt Chairs technical reviewsAssigns work and establishes priorities; in coordination with systems engineering branch chief, gives advice, counsel and/or instruction to subordinates on both work and administrative mattersFosters the development of other team members by providing guidance or sharing expertiseDirects assignments to encourage employee development and cross-functional growth to meet organizational needsPursues personal professional developmentNeed for cross-Product leadership in the areas of UAS systems architectures, UAS systems modeling, autonomous architecture development, Future UAS Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I), Advanced UAS Interoperability, Joint All Domain Operations (JADO) payload integration, Assured Positioning, Navigation and Timing (A-PNT) via non-traditional methods, airworthiness, safety, software engineering and cybersecurity, providing technical and programmatic leadership for acquisition and engineering activities directing improvement, development, integration, technical management, and fielding of manned and unmanned Army aircraft and ground support equipmentPlanning and establishing objectives and metrics for an Army acquisition program and allocating resourcesTechnical expertise in providing airworthy solutions to equipment and weapon systems integrationUML/SysML based modeling tools such as MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect, or Rhapsody (MagicDraw preferred), Open System Architecture (OSA) principles for software architectures, Knowledge of FACE technical standards, STANAG 4586, and similar standardsPrimary duties include:
o Lead the development of the software architecture for the EUAS software product baselineo Provide technical oversight of software development, integration, testing and certification activities.
o Experience with Future Capability Airborne Environment (FACE), Unmanned Aircraft System Control Segment (UCS), Object Management Specifications (OMS), Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), and Sensor Open System architectures (SOSA).
o Experience with model-based system engineering approaches including Unified Modeling Language (UML), System Modeling Language (SysML) and Unified Modeling Profile for DODAF/MODAF (UPDM).
o Experience with software development using airworthiness software safety standards (DO-178 and AMCOM Regulation 385-17).
o Serve as a subject matter expert on several topics related to UAS interoperability and the UGCS.
o Lead programmatic support for cost estimation, input to integrate master schedules, and development of statement of work development and source selection criteria for contract requirement packages.
o Chair and/or support architecture working groups across PM UAS to coordinate software development across UAS platforms.
