Job Overview:
Aerojet Rocketdyne, a major aerospace corporation responsible for the design, manufacture and operation of a number of critical US space and defense products, seeks a Senior Manager for a full-time position in the Engineering Mechanical Design discipline in Huntsville, Alabama.
This position is responsible for support to Aerojet Rocketdynes (AR) growing Mechanical Design Engineering organization and reports to the Senior Director, Defense BU Design and Analysis Engineering.
This position performs a variety of mechanical design engineering and managerial tasks on fast-paced Composite Cases and Nozzles for development and production programs supporting Solid Propulsion Systems, Controllable Solid Systems and Armaments.
Candidate will operate from the Huntsville office.

Essential Functions:
50% - Primary responsibilities are the leadership and management of development and production composite case and nozzle design engineers and their associated work products.
Provide supervision and strong leadership to accomplish composite case design and nozzle design on time and within schedule while minimizing technical risk.
Primary duties include supporting program chief engineers and Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to successfully manage designs and design processes to meet programs cost, schedule, quality, and risk requirements using/improving Enterprise design processes and tools.
20% - Provides internal and external Design Review support to assure product designs meet program requirements, AR design procedures and best practices.
15% - Provides employee mentoring and career development opportunities to increase versatile composite case and nozzle design capability across programs.
Interprets and applies administrative processes and procedures that affect the engineering staff.
15% - Develops design process improvements, tools and training as needed to streamline Enterprise design costs for programs while also reinforcing design to cost and re-use when possible.
Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, Materials Engineering or related engineering/scientific discipline and fourteen (14) years of design related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.
S.
Security Clearance at the appropriate level.
Must be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
Additional Requirements and Preferred
Qualifications:
Must be a self-starter and pro-active mentor to motivate employees to successfully meet program goals and perform effective conflict resolution as required.
Previous hands-on design experience, knowledge of composite case design and/or nozzle design and product definition processes are strongly preferred.
A demonstrated understanding of DoD/NASA engineering processes, materials, analysis and manufacturing is required.
Must possess strong technical writing and effective presentation skills.
Experience with Composite Case and Nozzle Design for Solid Propulsion Systems and Controllable Solid Systems is a plus.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
May require the ability to travel by air or auto.
May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.
These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
