As a Logistics Specialist Technical Editor you will: Analyze, format, edit, proofread, the quality control documents to produce qualified technical publications in a deadline-driven environment for the Phalanx, SeaRAM and Land-based Phalanx Weapon System (LPWS) in support of the Navy and Army customers. Be responsible for working closely with engineers to develop or edit technical publications, graphics for military logistics technical publications and interact closely with co-workers, subject matter experts, and customers to understand and meet product expectations. The Engineering Product Support Directorate (EPSD) in Sustainment Engineering Department is looking for an individual to participate on a fast paced Engineering Team and work closely with the Section Head and Customers to provide guidance, support, and solutions to routine technical editor publication issues when they arise. The Engineering Product Support Directorate (EPSD) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and are under configuration control. EPSD consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our EPSD disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. EPSD also includes the operational aspects of mission support such as field and technical support, repairs and spares management and Program Management support. The Logistics Analyst will work closely with the supervisor and department manager to learn to utilize a systems thinking approach in performing an analysis on the publications to ensure Raytheon and logistics and military policies are followed. Responsibilities include verification that the missile publication changes are conformed to appropriate air defense and government requirements such as S1000D Issue 2.3, 3.0 and 4.0. They must review, analyze and approve engineering technical publications and resolve any resulting errors working with Subject Matter Experts SMEs. Must be able to evaluate, analyze and resolve publication discrepancies prior to the delivery dates. Specialist will take Customer changes to develop a complete product design using manuals to verify the quality. This involves a thorough review of documentation and graphics for reviews in MIL-STD-40051 Technical Manuals to ensure that customers receive quality products to meet delivery schedules. Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Participate in the coordination and administration of assigned logistics specialist publication activities relative to editing, quality control, verification and proofreading for Phalanx, SeaRAM and Land-based Phalanx Weapon System in accordance with contractual requirements. Assist in implementation and introduction of technical engineering formatting and editing changes into the Government Interactive Authoring and Display Systems IADS and Logistics Support ILS policies and procedures. Use eXtensible Markup Language (XML) to edit/review technical data documentation to derive to document solutions. Will use Arbortext Editor 5.4 or higher along with using the MIL-STD-40051 Technical Manuals. Use Adobe Illustrator CS6 and AutoTrol do develop high-quality graphics and publications. Review publications and submittals for consistency and grammer. Verify the appropriate implementation of changes to engineering and Program publications by utilizing Tech Manuals and escalate issues to Functional leadership to ensure the quality control functions are designed to the correct engineering graphics. Perform document verification to ensure we are delivering the correct document revisions and conduct an error analysis at various levels throughout the publication process utilizing the Editor Tools (Arbortex Editor, XML) to ensure program schedules are met. Review released engineering change technical publications in various databases with Engineering, Quality, Support, and Field Engineer subject matter experts. Collaborate with this team to resolve verification errors to validate the root cause and send back to the original process owner to correct. Take the analytical approach to solving routine publication and editing requirements using military technical manuals and verification policies, procedures and tools to ensure publications meet standards. Coordinate with various engineering disciplines to ensure documents and publications have integrity and compliance with government and customer policies. Develop and present technical briefings to the Louisville and Huntsville Engineering Support Department. Identify potential problems associated with Logistics and Customers to take corrective action as needed.
