PC Support Technician (PST) A PST is responsible for performing tasks which require touching the desktop. Given that this position physically interfaces with the customer, a professional, courteous demeanor is required in all circumstances. This position will work closely with the Senior Technician at Bldg 5250 in support of PEO Missiles and Space. This position will provide Senior Level guidance to the junior level technicians.
PST must possess excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and telephone etiquette. Above average ability to interpret, analyze, troubleshoot and resolve technical problems. Must be decisive, conscientious and interact well in a team environment or training capacity. Have a strong desire to learn and be able to follow policies and procedures. Demonstrate the ability to work well with a minimal amount of supervision. Must have a strong working knowledge of and experience with computer hardware, software and peripheral devices in a diverse environment. Provide a high level of interfacing with co-workers, and communicate effectively with the clients, IT personnel and management.
This position will require knowledge of AR 25-2 and security requirements for minimum security settings, audit requirements, and IAVA update procedures for systems. Will assist team in keeping workstations and standalones up to date and in compliance with Army mandates and IG inspections.
Customer Service: Provide direct customer service and technical support to users as required via phone, e-mail, fax, on-line systems and in person.
Provide professional and personal assistance to clients in answering inquiries, locating information and analyzing technical requirements
Provide prompt responses to users for problem resolution
Responsibilities include informing users of pertinent network information including planned network downtime
Technology: A PST's main technology emphasis should be to:
Maintain skill set required to do job
Maintain an awareness of trends within the technology industry
Install/configure network printing devices
Install, configure and maintain network applications and application distribution systems
Ensure system security in compliance with customer policy including virus protection
Implement and maintain network standards and guidelines
Utilize enterprise tools sets such as Symantec Ghost, Patchlink, Active Directory, etc.
Configure and install new PCs, installation of needed peripherals and software, and physical attachment of PC to network.
Install and maintain peripheral equipment, such as printers, modems, scanners, etc.
Perform other hardware and software tasks as assigned.
Provide senior level guidance to junior level technicians.
PC Support Technician IV (PST 4)
Leadership/Direction: Activities will be directed, monitored, outlined and supervised by a task/project lead. Works independently on recurring projects. Assist others with solving problems. Provide guidance and assistance to the lower level PST's. A PST 4 will be responsible for training lower level PST's in the skills required to complete their tasks. Serve as a leader; provide guidance and coaching/train resources to improve customer support techniques. Often they will administer and support new technologies in the IT arena per customer requirements.
Activities: A PST 4 should be able to diagnose more complex problems, participate in special projects and complete complex technical tasks. A PST 4 will spend 50% of their time working with other PST support personnel helping them resolve issues and training them on new information, techniques and operations. The most difficult tickets are forwarded to the PST 4.
Typically has a BS degree in a computer or system science discipline with 4 years relevant experience or 8 years relevant experience plus an additional certification.

This position is classified as Information Assurance Technical Level II.

Will require the ability to stoop, squat, and reach above shoulder level to install computer equipment. Visiting customer areas throughout various large buildings. The ability to push and pull, as well as lift and carry up to 25 pounds is required.
There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work area walking moderate to long distances can sometimes be required.
Professional office environment. Work environment may be fast-paced and require work under pressure to meet deadlines associated with the completion of a task. Position will require multiple task efforts. Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers and all levels of management (100%).
May operate hand trucks. Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, copier, and other general office equipment (100%). Ability to conduct evaluation of third and fourth generation or current state of the art computer hardware and software and its ability to support specific requirements, interfacing with other equipment and systems.
Attendance is critical at all times during normal duty hours to maintain continuity of service. Work outside of normal duty hours may be required with as little as one-hour advance notice. Being prompt is important to provide continuous and on-going service to customers. Some after normal business hour hours is required. Routine system maintenance is scheduled on Thursday evenings as required. Overtime is infrequent, but important when required (10%).
Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain unescorted access to work areas. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
