This position is located at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama, Inc. (TMMAL) in Huntsville, AL. TMMAL, which opened in May 2003, supplies V8 and V6 engines for Tundra and Tacoma pick-up trucks and Sequoia SUVs built at Toyota assembly plants in Princeton, Indiana, San Antonio, Texas; and Baja California, Mexico. TMMAL launched a new 4-cylinder line in Summer 2011, building engines for Toyota's Camry, RAV4, Venza, Sienna and Highlander vehicles. Plant employment has grown from 800 to1000 team members, and cumulative investment has reached $637 million. Annual production capacity will be over 504,000.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Manufacturing support (Safety and Quality improvements, scrap/repair reduction, tooling/Kaizen implementation, cost reduction and MTBF improvement.
TPS/TPM for assigned line.
Capital and new product support.
Coordinate internal and external resources for the implementation of capital projects, model changes and other Kaizens.
Coordination of trials with Production, Quality, Maintenance, TEMA and outside vendors.
Manage own workload to complete tasks on time.
Project scope can include but not limited to new equipment installation, modification, or refurbishment of existing equipment, new tooling technologies, etc.
Project costs can range up to 1M+.
Responsible for the overall management of the project.
Responsible for the Machining/Assembly processes.
Troubleshoot process issues and implement process changes as needed.
Implement process Kaizens to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Follow TPS/TPM requirements and implementation.
Support and resolve any process, equipment or tooling related issue.
Support maintenance in recurrence prevention.
Develop and complete PMP and Hoshin targets as planned.
Support manufacturing capital project planning.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in ME, EE, IE, Chem E or Engineering Technology
Automotive, Agriculture, or Construction equipment production engineering experience in a machining or assembly role.
Project management experience with capability to develop, lead, prioritize work, meet milestones and report out on project status.
Ability and willingness to work 25% to 50% overtime as required.
Requires flexibility to handle rotating shifts, split shifts or weekend shifts to support production needs.
Preferred
Electrical or mechanical trouble shooting experience (PLC, CNC, or robotic systems).
Tightening equipment assembly systems, leak testing or machining experience.
Automotive or manufacturing project management experience with capability to develop, lead, prioritize work, meet milestones and report out on project status.
Equipment installation or plant startup experience.
TBP (passed panel), Six Sigma or similar problem solving certification.
Basic understanding of Toyota Way (possess understanding of relationship between Toyota Way values and core elements of Toyota Management Systems (TBS, TBP, Hoshin Kanri, OJD, Muda, Jikoda, JIT, etc.)
Please Note: this position could require rotating, splits or weekends shifts to support production; Overtime - 25% to 50% and Travel - 10%
