Role Summary/Purpose
This position will be responsible for network and compute operations as well as GE Brilliant Factory machine connectivity at the new greenfield manufacturing site in Huntsville AL. In this role, you will work with the broader GE Digital team to install, maintain and support the network and compute environment for the site. You will also develop the cross machine and cross factory standards for PLC communication and connectivity working closely with factory technical resources.
Essential Responsibilities
Responsible for working independently on components of larger network segments. Responsible for incident troubleshooting, change implementation, vendor relationships, and problem analysis. Contributes to the team on a variety of projects to deliver high quality results. Strong collaboration skills: ability to work with other network operations engineers and cross-functional peers. Strong communication skills: clear written and verbal communication.
In this role you will:
Perform installations, assist L2/L3 teams with configuration, maintenance, system administration, and operational support for the network and compute environment
Plan and perform backup, recovery, and security procedures to the compute environment
Drives continuous improvement of operational activities to maximize efficiency
Develops automated solutions to address potential problems before they result in a service interruption
Interpret program strategy and translate into actionable activities at a factory level
Develop the technical standards by which factories will connect their machines and tools
Coordinate and execute the connection of machines and tools to the GE Network
Collaborate with the Lean and Fastworks labs to develop standards for new machines and tooling
Collaborate and partner with the larger Aviation Brilliant Factory team, the Global Research Center (GRC), the GE Software CoE and other industry leaders to develop and execute strategic initiatives in areas such as virtual manufacturing, sensor enabled manufacturing technologies, as well as factory and supply chain optimization
Provide advanced support to the Controls & Connectivity Technician at the factories
Qualifications/Requirements
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Management or other technical / IT field, OR in lieu of a degree: a HS diploma/GED and a minimum 10 years of IT experience or equivalent military experience / training
Minimum 5 years of experience working in IT Infrastructure/compute environment
Minimum 5 years of experience working in telecommunications/systems infrastructure in a large-scale / global enterprise
